Tips 4 Teachers:
HOMEStatement of Issue
Energy is an important issue to Americans.
Energy impacts our wallets, our climate, and our foreign policy.
Energy costs are important, and policymakers, businesses, and consumers are all looking for ways to lower the price of gas at the pump, reduce home energy costs, and build national resiliency against the rise and fall of oil prices.
Another important issue is
energy independence. Currently, the United States receives the majority of its energy from foreign sources, which has an impact on the U.S.'s relationship with countries like Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Russia, and many others.
Of increasing importance to many Americans is the
impact of energy production and consumption on the environment. Concerns over rising CO2 levels, and their contribution to global warming, have caused Americans to reexamine the nation's primary sources of energy and even individual energy use.
